Covent Garden

Covent Garden is one of the city’s popular shopping and entertainment district. Its existence dated back to the 17th century when it was once a fresh produce market. Gradually street performers, theatres, pubs and coffee houses settled in. The district was formalised in May 1670 by the 5th Earl of Bedford.

You can find high-end brands as well as eclectic merchant stalls in the Market Building. Spoil your taste buds with ample selection of gastronomic options.

Free walking tours are available daily at the Piazza at 10:00, 11:00, and 13:00. A diverse array of music, magic, acrobatic and many kinds of street performances is available every hour. The square can be quite packed during the holidays so keep a close eye on your belongings.

Situated in Covent Garden, the Royal Opera House is home to the Royal Opera and Royal Ballet; both deliver amazing performances that come with a wide range of ticket prices. For more shopping or dining, walk up north to Seven Dials, or head west to Chinatown or Leicester Square for theatre performances. Nearby attractions include London Transport Museum, London Film Museum and the Jubilee Market.
